BOOK REVIEWED : Phoenix by Cecilia London !!!

5 STARS !!!
phoenix_cecilia_london_teaser2

OMG Cecilia London !!! You left me speechless. You did it again !!! It was nerve wrecking. My emotions were literally snowballed from happiness to sadness. One series that never failed!!! Phoenix picks up from Sojourn continuing Caroline’s journey at the rebellion base camp, bringing a tear or a smile to my face, inserting tension and suspense all at the same time. Her writing is so raw, it will tug at your heartstring.

Phoenix is about Caroline’s and Jack’s struggle within their relationship, where Caroline is badly affected by her captivity at the Feds and the after-effects had damaged her emotionally as well as physically. She has become cold hearted and detached, where as Jack has his own demons and he will do anything to get Caroline back in his life. Meanwhile Dr Haddad is trying to help Caroline and Jack both with their exploits.

Just when we thought things will be fine, the story takes an unpredictable turn, that will leave your mouth agape and twist your heart !!!!

Yet another beautiful series by my favourite author Bella J. Stiletto Secrets (Fairy Tale Bastards 1) is a hot contemporary romance. A modern day Cinderella with a twist. A story so dreamy you cannot put it down, loved every single word of it. It picked up the momentum right from the beginning and never once faltered. It is dreamy, steamy and magical.

“A maid and a stripper falling for a millionaire playboy. What a cliche.”

Excerpt
I charged back up the aisle to the counter, rounding it at the front and—

Smack.

Ran straight into a very hard, very familiar chest.

Literally.

“Sorry.” I gasped. My eyes remained fixed on the green tiled floor. My breath remained somewhere stuck in my throat.

“It’s okay.” Warm hands cupped my shoulders, and every muscle in my body tensed. He stole all the air in the store. Stifling heat trapped me, and when his gentle fingers came to rest under my chin, pushing my head up to look him in the eye, I didn’t look. I couldn’t look.

“Eva …” He asked permission when he said my name. So kind. So gentle.

Zac McGuire had always been kind and gentle.

Except for that one time.

“Y … you’re s’posed to be at the house.” My voice shook its way over the words.

“Ran out of petrol for the ride-on, and I thought I’d grab a new spark plug while I was here.” He inhaled, and when he breathed out, the air was sweet. Like sun-kissed tomatoes. Like a sugary drink on a long, hot afternoon. Like holding hands and running under the sprinkler.

Like summers long gone that would never be good again.

His hand nudged my chin again, and I looked up. A startling blue looked back at me.

It was too much.

“I can’t.”

The box with the light bulb thudded as it hit the floor. My hands pushed at his chest and I ran past him, past a stunned Callie-May, then rushed out the doors and slammed into my car. I jerked the door open, and my shaky hands fumbled, turning the key.

“Please, please,” I begged, desperate for the car to start, desperate to get away.

“Eva!” Zac called from the door of the store. He took one, two, three steps toward me, and the car finally roared to life. My foot hit the accelerator and I barrelled down Mount Ingalls Road toward the vineyard. Glancing in the rear-view mirror, I was fairly sure the soldier in the centre of the roundabout watched me as I made my escape, those hard eyes full of judgment.

I might not have been good at making friends.

But one thing I was good at was running.

I’d been doing it the last three years of my life.

Hearts In The Sand

(JACT Book 2)

by
Jennifer L. Allen

Genre: Contemporary Romance

The last several years of Trevor Monroe’s life have been quite a rollercoaster. He has always been the responsible and dependable one, the one friends and siblings look to for advice, or help bailing themselves out of whatever mess they’ve gotten into. He has certainly earned a month-long vacation to North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Sara Sands loves her life on the Outer Banks. Sure, the road to where she is today hasn’t always been smooth, but she is the proud owner of a successful company, Sand Tours, doing what she loves, and she couldn’t love her niece and nephew more if they were her own. Life is good.

Fate brings Trevor and Sara together and the chemistry between the two kindred spirits cannot be denied. Against both of their natures, they decide to just enjoy the month they have together before Trevor returns home with his family to record their next album and Sara will return to her normal routine of work and family.

Sparks fly and their bond grows overwhelmingly stronger, will they be able to part ways with their hearts intact when the month ends?

EXCERPT

Just as Alex and Joey step out of the building, a muddy Jeep Wrangler comes rushing into the lot and jerks into a parking space, barking its tires. Muttered curse words in the most angelic of tones float across the parking lot and I can’t tear my eyes, or ears, away from the spectacle if I tried.
The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen gets out of said Jeep, slams the door, and kicks it for good measure. She tips her head back and closes her eyes, her full lips moving but I can’t hear what she’s saying. I wish I could hear what she was saying.
I take a moment to completely check her out: long, tan legs, denim short-shorts, white tank top with pink bikini straps peeking out around her neck. She’s barefoot, and something about that is sexy as hell. Her long, brown hair is in a thick braid down her back.
“Holy hot chick,” Alex says, not quietly, beside me.

Holy Hot Chick straightens herself out, her eyes zero in on our group—all staring in wonder now—probably wondering who had called her “hot chick”, then after staring at us—at me—for a good thirty seconds, huffs and storms into the building.
“Bitches be crazy,” Alex says with a shrug, then hops in the back and begins arguing with Joey about who gets to sit across from Max. “Sit across from your wife…Max wants to sit across from his favorite uncle. Don’t ya buddy?”
“Unca! Unca!”
“Told you!” Alex laughs maniacally. I shake my head; the antics never seem to end.
The side door of the building pops open and the beautiful brunette from the Jeep appears. Smiling and confident, she walks right up to me and sticks her hand out.
“You must be Mr. Monroe. I’m Sara, I’ll be your driver today.”
I’m not entirely sure, but I think my jaw drops for a second before I take her hand and shake. What I’d really like to do is bring her hand up to my lips and kiss it like the goddess I’m positive she must be.
“Trevor. Please, call me Trevor. Mr. Monroe was my dad.” I smile, slightly stumbling over my words.
“This is gonna be epic,” I hear Alex say in a stage whisper behind me. Sad thing is, he probably thought he was actually whispering.
“Sorry about him,” I say, still shaking her hand. “Sorry,’ I grimace, dropping her hand.
“It’s okay,” she smiles. “I guess you’re riding with me?” she asks, raising her brow and drawing my attention from her mouth to the most amazing blue eyes I’ve ever seen.
“Yeah, I’m riding you. With you. I’m riding with you. Shit.” I tip my head back and close my eyes, very similar to how I just saw her a few minutes ago. “I’m sorry,” I say, but I’m not sure she can hear me over Alex and Joey’s uproarious laughter from the back of the truck. I finally open my eyes and chance a look at her and see that she’s laughing a little, too.
“You’ll have to take me to dinner first,” she winks. “As for the tour, why don’t you get in the front seat while I check to make sure everyone’s seat belts are secure?”
“Can you secure my seat belt for me?” Alex asks. “Ow, what the hel—heck did you do that for?” Alex glares at Ally.
“Behave yourself!” she growls.
“Chase, control your woman! Ow! Son of a—! Switch with me Joe, sit across from your kid. Come on.”
“You think my wife won’t kick you?”
“Trev, I’ll sit up front,” Alex says, making a move to rise.
“Sorry,” Sara says, patting Alex on the shoulder. “Trevor’s too tall to sit back here. It’s in the rule book.”
“But I was born a rule breaker, baby.” Alex says, waggling his eyebrows and giving his best grin.
“You were not,” Ally interjects. “If anyone was born a rule breaker, it was me.”
“You were slow. That hardly makes you a rule breaker.”
“I was supposed to be first.”
“And that just means you’ve been failing to meet expectations since birth. Not that you’re a rule breaker.”
Ally glares at Alex, then looks at Chase expectantly. He rolls his eyes, but still elbows Alex in the side.
“Ow, what was that for?”
“Stop disrespecting your sister. You’re being an ass.”
“Language,” Evie calls out.
“Sorry,” Chase says.
“She started it,” Alex complains. “I only said I was born a rule breaker, she’s the one who started arguing with me.”
“Are they always like this?” Sara asks me as we both take a seat in the cab.
“Yes. At least once a day, every day.”
“Brother and sister?” she asks.
“Twins.” I answer as I buckle my seat belt.
Her eyes dart up to mine with genuine interest, “Really?”
“Yep.”
“That’s so cool. My niece and nephew are fraternal twins.” She smiles that heart-stopping smile again and I swear my ability to form a sentence goes straight out the window. “Ever since they were born I’ve been intrigued by research on twins and twin studies. Interesting stuff.”
“Well, you don’t want to research these twins. Trust me.”
She laughs, and if her smile hadn’t already knocked me on my ass, her laugh would have. It was ethereal, it suited her other angelic qualities…like her voice and her eyes and her smile…
“I sense there is a definite warning there,” she says, still laughing.
“Yes. It says ‘Proceed With Caution.’”

“You’re funny, Trevor Monroe.” I love the way my full name rolls off her tongue. Sara puts the key in the ignition and turns on the truck. The rumble of the engine cuts off conversation in the back. She grabs a small, black, wireless device from the dash and clips it to the strap of her tank top. I’m completely mesmerized by her simple movements.
Sara taps the roof of the truck through her open window, pops it into gear, and we’re off. She presses a button on the steering wheel and a red light blinks on the wireless device. When she speaks, her voice comes through the speakers.

“Hey everyone, thanks for choosing Sand Tours. I’m Sara Sands, and I’ll be your guide today.”

BOOK TOUR : Heartbreaker by Melody Grace !!

SBPR-HEARBREAKER-BT-BANNER

Heartbreaker by Melody Grace
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 28th

heartbreaker final 2-29

“A must read second chance love story!”

 Claire Contreras, NYT Bestselling Author

Synopsis:

They say that time heals a broken heart, but you try moving on when your ex is the most famous man on the planet.

Every time I walk down the street, there he is on magazine covers and billboards plastered with his gorgeous face: Finn McKay. Now he’s a drop-dead sexy rock star, but when I knew him, he was just the boy from the wrong side of the tracks – and the first guy I ever loved. He broke my heart into a hundred pieces when he skipped town without saying goodbye – but now he’s back.
And he wants me.
I’m determined not to make the same mistakes twice, but the chemistry with Finn was always way too hot to ignore. He was the guy who had me sneaking out my bedroom window for just one more kiss, and breaking curfew parked by the riverbanks, steaming up his windows in the backseat of his car. The past five years have been good to him, real good, and between his dirty mind and that ‘I know how to make you scream’ smile, he’s breaking through my defenses all over again.

Maybe one last wild fling for old time’s sake is what I need to finally move on. But what happens when Finn wants more than my body? This time he wants everything.

Excerpt:

Finn walks me to my front porch. “Listen, Eva, I wanted to say…” He stops there on the dark road, with nothing but the moon to illuminate the shadowed planes of his face. “About what happened, when I left—’

“Don’t.” I cut him off before he can try to justify what he did. My pride is all I’ve got now, and I can’t bear for him to know how thoroughly he broke my heart. “You don’t need to explain. Ancient history,” I add, with a forced little laugh. “It’s all over now. Thanks for walking me, but I’ve got it from here.”

I turn to go, but then his hand is on my arm, pulling me back, pressing me hard against a wall of solid muscle.

“Is that what you really think?” Finn demands, searching my face, just inches between us. There’s something raw in his voice, something wounded and real.

“I…” I stop, caught in the intensity of his gaze. The feel of his body, the hot whisper of his breath on my skin, it’s overwhelming. And oh, those lips, so close… A hundred volts of electricity race through my numb, tired veins, short-circuiting my brain until I can’t think, can’t breathe. I can only feel him. All of him.

I fight for air, my blood pounding in my ears. “Finn…” I whisper, pleading, but for what, I don’t know. And then his lips claim mine in an urgent, fevered kiss, and I realize what I’ve been waiting for since the moment he walked through those doors.

This. Right here.

Finn kisses me hard, yanking me closer and circling me with those taut, chiseled arms. His mouth is hot against mine, merciless and wild. He eases my lips apart, exploring the wet, hot depths as his tongue slides deeper, demanding. I buckle against him, sensation flooding through me. It’s lightning to dry wood, the sharp spark that roars to wildfire in an instant, the heat surging through my entire body.

And God, I can’t get enough.

My hands are in his hair. My body presses close against him, like I could mold myself to his form. The years melt away, obliterated by the force of our passion, so familiar but still so new. Every touch, every taste feels like a revelation.

My Finn. Back again.

He makes a low groan, sliding his hands lower, possessive, to cup my ass and bring me hard against him. Time is lost, gone forever as his lips take possession of me completely, and I match him kiss for kiss. Desire rages to life again, so sharp and craving. It’s like I’ve been sleepwalking for the past five years, and only just come back to life. The world bursts from black and white to glorious, vivid technicolor.

“Look at me,” he whispers, in a low husky voice that sends molten honey pooling between my thighs. “Look at me, baby.” He tilts my chin up, so I have no choice but to stare into those stormy eyes, the face I’ve imagined so many nights in scenes just like this. He traces my lips with his thumb, and I shudder at the friction. Light-headed, dizzy with desire, I part my lips, ready for another kiss.

Finn’s lips curl in a victorious smile. “Ancient history, huh?” he teases, stepping back. I blink, still reeling as cold air rushes to fill the space his warm body has left behind.

Wait, what?

Excerpt

My entire body burned from the inside out. I tried to tell myself it was from the hot shower, but I knew better. Trent had worked me up back at his house without even touching me. Just knowing his naked body was under the spray and slicked up with my soap gave me goose bumps. When the water turned off, I grabbed the first book I found on my end table, opened it randomly, and pretended to read it as I sneaked glances at the bathroom. I’d missed the shower exit in my haste to grab a decoy…darn it.

Trent stood at the sink, running his fingers through his tousled, wet hair. Water droplets trailed down his damp torso as if they were in a race to get to the promised land. I’d had my mouth on the appendage hidden beneath the towel slung around his hips. I remembered his taste, the subtle hints of salt and man. My knees knocked together under the blanket. That sexual experience with Trent was the most unique I’d ever had. Every evening since that night, I’d dreamed about it, used my vibrator while reminiscing over and over again.

Trent turned toward the opposite vanity near the shower, dropped the towel, and reached for something. Oh, my word. Trent had the finest bum that had ever graced my vision. And surprisingly enough, it was just as tan as the rest of him. I bit down on my lip, thinking I’d rather be biting down on his firm ass cheek. Heat rose through my chest, up my neck, and I placed a hand to my flaming face. As he bent over, I stifled a moan. Instead, I closed my eyes and did some yoga breathing.

I heard the water at the sink turn on and the distinct sound of teeth being brushed. Continuing my mini-meditation, I chanted internally.

You cannot have sex with him here.
You cannot have sex with him here.
You cannot have sex with him here.

“Gumdrop, I already told you we don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for. And if here is a problem for you, we’ll improvise.” He turned off the bathroom light and walked to the empty side of the bed.

Oh, sugar! I might have said the chant out loud. Heat blazed across my skin. I continued the measured breaths, attempting to calm down. “I know.”

I couldn’t help checking him out as he stretched his arms over his head. Trent wore nothing but a pair of tight red boxer briefs. His package looked huge behind the thin cotton.

He pushed back the coverlet and slid into the bed. Thank God it was a California King or his large form wouldn’t have fit. The man took up far more room than I did.

“I used your toothbrush.” He grinned devilishly.

Of course he did. I glanced sideways. “Did you tell me that to annoy me?”

He snuffled and rubbed his warm nose into my bicep. He slung an arm around my waist and did something I wouldn’t have expected from a man like Trent. He snuggled into my side. Literally wrapped his body around mine until he was comfortable. I, on the other hand, became hot, in every sense of the word. Temperature and desire were warring against one another for top bidding as he adjusted himself like a cat circling around until he’d found just the right spot. A little twitch here, a poke there, a heavy thigh covering my much smaller one there, and—voila!—he stopped moving. Finally. I thought I was going to have to smack him with my book to get him to settle down. Jeez, it reminded me of Mary and her fidgets.

“Comfy?” I whispered.

He hummed from where his head lay on the pillow and my arm. “Very.”

I huffed and tried to inhale a few relaxing breaths. It didn’t work. I was too wired up. It had been three long years since I’d had a man in my bed, holding me, finding comfort in my body. I loved it and hated it at the same time because I knew it wouldn’t last.

“How’s your book?” he asked, a hint of laughter in his voice.

Without even glancing at the book, I responded, “Good, good.”

“Do you normally read books upside down?”

Sure enough, when I scanned the details of the black letters on white paper in front of me, they were all upside down. Busted.

“I just started!” I nudged him.

Trent sat up, grabbed the book, and tossed it on the end table. “Enough. I’m beat. You must be after teaching and everything else today. Now kiss me, woman, so I can go to sleep.”

“What?” I shoved my face as far back as I could so he came into better focus.

He narrowed his eyes and grinned. “You heard me, gumdrop. I want my goodnight kiss. Give it up.”

“Are you serious?” I held the blankets tight to my chest.

“As a heart attack. If you don’t give it, I’m going to take it.”

I scowled. “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me, babe. Try. Me.”

I didn’t want to try him. I wanted to kiss him goodnight. It seemed so…normal. I haven’t had normal in a long time.

“Fine!” I made it sound like it was such a chore.

He didn’t care about my shenanigans, and what was better, he met me halfway.

When our lips met, the fire that raged just under the surface blazed white-hot once more. The kiss was wet, deep, and blistering in its ability to take me from zero to sixty in a mere second. Trent kissed me with long flicks of his tongue, hard presses of his lips, as if he’d never stop. I never wanted him to. Before long, he was on top of me, lying between my spread thighs, his upper body braced on his elbows, one hand squeezing my breast, and the other holding my face still so he could devour me with slow, devastating kisses.

I rubbed my leg against the back of his good thigh, pressing his hardened shaft tighter to my body. That move earned me a growl and a lip nibble.

“Damn, gumdrop, want to take you right here, right now, but I respect you too much to go against your wishes.”

Trent eased to my side, rolled behind me, and tugged my body to his, my back smashed flat to his front. He pinned one of my legs with his own, shoved a hand across my waist and up between my breasts. “Hold my hand, babe. Want to feel you close while I sleep.”

No sweeter words had ever been said to me. I was so screwed. In that moment, as Trent kept me close within the confines of his safe embrace, I fell a little in love with him, even knowing he could never truly be mine.

EXCERPT

Once out the door, I breathed a sigh of relief and slowed my pace. “Come on, Summer, stop acting like an idiot.”

“Talking to yourself now?” Evan teased from behind.

I stopped mid-step and closed my eyes. “Do you enjoy provoking me?”

When he circled around me, I opened my eyes. “Not really, but I do love seeing you blush. I didn’t realize I had that effect on you.”

“You seriously are full of yourself, aren’t you?” How could I be so stupid? There was no way in hell I could hide my face now. I didn’t want him to know how flustered he made me.

Chuckling, he shook his head and kept his gray eyes solely on mine. “I’m really not. I was just hoping to hear your laugh again. I guess I didn’t get enough of it yesterday.”

“So, this is you flirting with me? What do you expect to gain from that?”

He took a step closer and smiled. “For starters, I was hoping to persuade you to come to my party after the game Saturday night.”

My heart thumped wildly in my chest. I could feel the sweat pouring down my back. “Like what? A date?”

“Only if you want it to be. I just figured I’d save you the trouble of having to ward off my teammates. I can name three of the guys who are interested in you. My threats to stop their advances can only go so far.”

“What if I didn’t want to go to your party? I can easily just tell them I’m not interested.”

He nodded and crossed his arms over his chest. “You could, but that doesn’t mean shit to these guys. They’ll keep hounding you until you give in. They love the chase.”

“Just like you,” I retorted with a smile.

“What can I say? I’m relentless when I want something.” I sucked in a breath and bit my lip. Did he really want me like that? The thought made everything inside of me tighten. It was too dangerous to think of him like that.

“So are you trying to save me from your friends or are you really wanting me to join you? I know how you guys work, and I don’t want to be a part of some game you’re playing to get girls.”

His grin faded, gaze hard. “I don’t play games, Summer. I may have in the past, but I would never do that to you. Have I ever given you the impression that you can’t trust me?”

Sighing, I shook my head. I felt like such an idiot. “No, and I’m sorry for being presumptuous. It’s just . . .” I paused and bit down on the side of my cheek.

“It’s just what?” he asked in all seriousness.

“It’s just this is all new to me. All I’ve ever known is Austin. Being around you makes me nervous. I’m not like the girls you’ve brought into the restaurant. If it’s sex you want, you can forget it. I’m not one of your groupies.” For a second there, I thought he was at a loss for words, but then he belted out in laughter. Ouch, that hurt. “I’m glad I could amuse you.”

When he straightened up, he took off his hat and ran his hands through his hair. And again, my heart sped up at the sight. Shit. “Damn, you are a fiery one. And just so we’re clear, I’m not trying to fuck you or trying to put another notch in my belt. Believe it or not, I’m actually interested in something else.”

“What is that, exactly?”

“I don’t know, but I’m hoping you can help me figure it out.” Grabbing my hand, he pulled me toward his truck. “Let’s go.”
